There was once an old man who had lived a full, but troubled life. He was lying on his death bed with moments to live. As he died, he found himself face to face with Christ. Before embarking on his new life in Heaven, Jesus gave the man the opportunity to review his life on earth. The man saw his life symbolised as footsteps walking along a beach.

All throughout his life he could see two pairs of footsteps - his and the Lord’s. But then he noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one pair of footsteps. He also noticed that this only occurred at the lowest and most troublesome parts of his life. The man turned to Jesus and asked, "Why Lord, during all my troubled times did you let me go it alone? I don't understand. I thought you were always there for me."

Jesus replied, "I would never leave you my friend. My love for you is too strong. It was in those troubled times that I carried you".”

Why does this timeless story resonate so well with the heart? I believe it’s because it resonates so well with the Truth.
